LOOKUP TROUBLESHOOTING

UETR Shows No Result? Check These Details First

No match is a statement about a search—not a verdict on the payment.

Check which reference you copied

Payment documents can contain a UETR, a sender’s reference, an invoice number and an account identifier on the same page. Copy the complete UETR, including its four hyphens. In an MT103-style confirmation, look for field 121; in pacs.008, look inside PmtId for UETR.

Use the UETR format validator to identify missing characters or an incorrect version digit. A passing result means the text matches the expected structure. It does not prove the bank issued it.

Use the message date, not the expected arrival date

UETR.io matches the reference and the registered message date using your browser’s timezone. Enter the date associated with the original message. Do not substitute today’s date, the day you received a screenshot or the bank’s estimated credit date.

A record close to midnight can fall on a different calendar date in another timezone. Check the original date and offset rather than repeatedly guessing dates.

A website needs a record it can actually access

UETR.io looks up transactions registered with this service. It does not search every bank or query the live SWIFT gpi network. A real bank payment can therefore exist without a matching UETR.io record.

If the reference and date are correct, ask the transaction provider to confirm registration. For the payment’s financial state, ask the sending bank for its record and investigation route.

Three conclusions the screen does not support

  • “No result means the payment was rejected.” The search does not establish that.
  • “A valid UUID means the transfer is genuine.” Format is not authenticity.
  • “Trying another tracker will recover the money.” A lookup is not a recovery service.

Separate those questions before deciding whom to contact. Website support can investigate a lookup issue; a bank handles the payment enquiry.

Send a useful support enquiry

Note the page, the message date and timezone you used, and the exact error text. Start with a masked reference when emailing website support. Do not include account credentials or post a signed transaction link publicly.

If the bank’s arrival window has passed and the recipient has no credit, follow the missing-wire guide. It sets out separate questions for the sender’s and receiver’s banks.
